최근 DIY 열풍에 힘입어 카페, 가정 집 인테리어부터 실외 LED 장식까지 LED의 쓰임은 다양하게, 또 계속적으로 광범위해지고 있다. 오픈소스업계의 강자 adafruit는 아두이노와 호환되는 특별한 LED 스트립, BlinkyTape을 선보였다. BlinkyTape는 마이크로컨트롤러, 전원공급장치 또는 커넥터를 소싱할 필요없이, 표준 USB 배터리팩이나 충전기를 연결하기만 하면 깜빡거린다.
이 제품은 60개의 독립적으로 제어할 수 있는 풀컬러 RGB LED가 실리콘 튜빙되어 있다. 이 모든 기능은 표준 마이크로 USB 커넥터가 있는 통합 라이트 프로세서를 통해 제공된다. 즉 배터리 또는 전원공급장치를 연결하여 자체적으로 실행하거나 컴퓨터와 통신할 수 있는 제품이다.
BlinkyTape에는 밝고 다채로운 내장 패턴이 있지만 자신만의 원하는 패턴과 효과를 쉽게 만들 수 있는 일련의 소프트웨어가 함께 제공된다. PatternPaint(http://blinkinlabs.com/software/patternpaint/)를 사용하여 그래픽패턴 및 애니메이션을 그릴 수 있다.
BlinkyTape에 전원을 공급하기 위해 USB 배터리 팩 또는 Mintyboost Kit 중 하나를 제안하며 전류 소모는 평균 패턴 사용에 대해 약 300mA이다.
BlinkyTape는 프로젝트에 필요한 모든 모양을 쉽게 나타내고 비바람에 잘 견디는 실리콘으로 둘러싸여있어 실외 사용도 용이하다.

| BlinkyTape is a very special LED strip, taking the smarts of NeoPixels and combining it with an Arduino-compatible for an all-in-one ready to go design. You don’t have to source your own microcontroller, power supply or connectors. Simply plug in a standard USB battery pack or wall charger, and you’re good to blink.
BlinkyTape has 60 independently controllable full-color RGB LEDs, all wrapped up in a weather-resistant silicone case. All this is powered by a integrated light processor (e.g. Atmega32u4 microcontroller) which has a standard micro-USB connector. This means you can connect it to a battery or power supply to run on its own, or it can talk to a computer for interactive installations.
When you first plug in your BlinkyTape, you’ll be greeted by a colorful rainbow pattern. But the fun doesn’t stop there: the BlinkyTape comes with a full set of companion software to make it easy for you to make the patterns and effects you want. You can graphically draw pattens and animations the LED strip using PatternPaint (http://blinkinlabs.com/software/patternpaint/). If dynamic lighting is more your style, check out our Processing library (http://blinkinlabs.com/blinkytape/docs/processing/) — it has a range of examples that allow you to create an LED light soundtrack to your favorite tunes, a backlight for your monitor, and more!
To power the BlinkyTape, we suggest one of our USB battery packs or a Mintyboost Kit. The current draw is about 300mA for average pattern usage.
